Tom,
You are right! The generation that will take over from us is coming to the
fore. One of our vintage club committee members is in his 20's and we get many
requests from prospective restorers that are in their teens or just older.
The cars that are now becoming restorable are the 70's cars. Very active
market. Here in South Africa they are the Australian Holdens that were
rebadged and sold under the Chevrolet mark.

Whoever wrote that article needs to get out more. There are more cars being
restored now than ever before...ones that would have been junked 15 years ago
and quite a few of them by people that fall into the 18-30 age group. They
didn't interview anyone under the age of 50 from what I saw while reading that
article except 1 lone 16 year old.

Interesting read, but I don't think that its entirely true. We (baby
boomer generation) may not see a future classic in any of the current
offerings, but in 20-40 years, WE won't be the cruisers. The kids of today
will be harkening (can anyone give me the word I want?) back to their
"Good-Old-Days" . They'll be cruisin in 5.0 Mustangs, Tuners and whatever
floats their boat today. We (mostly) are not interested in the cars our
dads & grandfathers were cruising in. And the same will be true for our kids
& grandkids.
