There is something else, we are inclined to forget! My 65 Malibu is a daily
runner and the maintenance costs is much less than my wife's Peugeot 406 or my
daughters Fiat Palio.
Costs: Fixing the Peugeot's speedo $600, Fixing the Fiat's Petrol sensor $750.
Although the Malibu is heavier on petrol it is cheaper to keep on the road!
Service the Peugeot $400. Fiat about the same. Service the Malibu (Self) $150!
Makes you think! We dont't have auto mechanics any more, only parts
replacement Fitters.
That is why it is important to keep the Oldies on the road and maintain the God
given abilities that He has bestowed on us.

They'll be resurgence, just like the 40s & 50s cars are still popular today.
In twenty or so years, the 70s cars will still be going strong and maybe some
80s A-body machines. Like Larry, I see the current Mustangs, possibly late
Camaros and maybe even the new Camaros & Challengers will survive and tuners
will be going I'm sure.

Interesting read, but I don't think that its entirely true. We (baby
boomer generation) may not see a future classic in any of the current
offerings, but in 20-40 years, WE won't be the cruisers. The kids of today
will be harkening (can anyone give me the word I want?) back to their
"Good-Old-Days" . They'll be cruisin in 5.0 Mustangs, Tuners and whatever
floats their boat today. We (mostly) are not interested in the cars our
dads & grandfathers were cruising in. And the same will be true for our kids
& grandkids.
