I have a 200-4R in my 70 Skylark (GSX clone) and I am still running the stock
2.73 gear. I keep it in 3rd gear most of the time except on the highway, 55-60
mph. 2,000 rpm is about 78 mph. I have driven it to Miami and Daytona last
November and I just got back from the last 3 cities part of the Hot Rod Power
Tour. Gas mileage for the last trip was a miserable 14.5 mph with 350-4
engine. 2.73 is way too much gear for a heavy car. The problem will be
corrected before the next highway trip but there just hasn't been money in the
budget the last 12 months.
