[Nativismwatch] Action Alert for Maryland [Please Read]

ALERT!

When Did the Extreme Become Mainstream?

Armstrong Williams a local radio 'personality' in the Maryland area, is going
to be broadcasting his show live from an event with FAIR next week.

FAIR (Federation for American Immigration Reform) a group classified as a hate
group and with known ties to white supremacists, is getting air time on OUR
local airwaves!

Does the radio station manager at WPGC 1580, CBS Radio know who these people
are?

Tell them!

Call the radio station starting Monday and ask the station manager, 'Why are
you associating with bigots?'

Please call: 301-918-2316 between 9am & 5pm, Monday thru Thursday

YOU CAN MAKE THESE POINTS:

1) I live in Maryland.

2) I am calling you because I know that your station (WPGC 1580, CBS Radio) and
host Armstrong Williams will be participating in the Federation for American
Immigration Reform's Hold Their Feet to the Fire event in Washington, DC next
week.

3) FAIR, employs staff who are publicly anti-catholic, shares editorial space
with white nationalists, meets with known racist and anti-Semitic political
parties, accepts funding from a eugenicist foundation, and was recently
classified as a hate group along with the KKK.

4) My question for you is: Why are you associating with FAIR - a hate group
with known ties to white supremacist groups? Do you share these values, is that
why you are giving them more air time?

5) If you are interested in more information about FAIR's ties to bigotry and
hate speech, please visit the Southern Poverty Law Center's website
(www.splcenter.org) or the Campaign for a United American website at
(www.campaignforaunitedamerica.org)

What You Should Know About the
Federation for American Immigration Reform (FAIR)
  ● The Southern Poverty Law Center has named FAIR a “hate group.” The list of
other groups which have earned this distinction from SPLC include: the Ku Klux
Klan, the American Nazi Party, and the Aryan Nations.
 ● FAIR was founded by a supporter of eugenics, John Tanton, with funds from
the Pioneer Fund, a foundation committed to the belief that some races of
people are genetically and intellectually superior to other races. Tanton
continues as a leader of FAIR and sits on its board of directors.
 ● FAIR employed and continues to employ known anti-Catholic bigots, including
Rosanna Pulido, who said of the Catholic Church in the United States:
What better way to fill your pews and fill your offering coffers than with
inviting in and giving sanctuary to illegal aliens? . . . What is being passed
off right now by the Catholic Church is not Catholicism. It has nothing to do
with Christianity or the Bible.
www.chicagopublicradio.org/Content.aspx?audioID=13961
And FAIR Executive Director Dan Stein went further, targeting Latino Catholics:
Certainly we would encourage people in other countries to have small families.
Otherwise they’ll all be coming here, because there’s no room at the Vatican. .
. . Many immigrants hate America, hate everything the United States stands for.
Talk to some of these Central Americans.
 ● FAIR’s Executive Director Dan Stein has been an author and editorial board
member for the Social Contract Press. FAIR Board member Sharon Barnes has also
been on the editorial advisory board. Social Contract publishes the work of
numerous white nationalists such as John Vinson, who wrote that God prefers
racial separation and that the South should secede from the United States to
protect white people.
 ● In February 2007, FAIR hosted a high profile meeting with Flemish Interest
(Vlaams Belang). This Belgian political group is described by the
Anti-Defamation League as:
[D]eeply hostile to immigrants and minorities, and its members have a history
of espousing racist and anti-Semitic views. Flemish Interest recently has made
headlines in Europe as one of the founding members of a new racist and
anti-Semitic political group in the European Parliament called 'Identity,
Tradition and Sovereignty' (ITS). (www.adl.org/PresRele/DiRaB_41/4985_41.htm)
 ● FAIR has well-documented connections to the racist hate group Council of
Conservative Citizens, formed out of the old White Citizens Council. The
Council of Conservative Citizens has described black people as “a retrograde
species of humanity.” FAIR staffer Rick Oltman has spoken at Council events,
as did FAIR field coordinator Dave Ray. Similarly, Council leaders Sam Francis
and Jared Taylor have spoken at FAIR run forums.

“FAIR is more nuanced in its use of language than other anti-immigrant groups
and it has been used as a resource by officials, the media and within
anti-immigration policy circles. However, a close look reveals a pattern of
extremist affiliations and a strategy of founding and empowering smaller groups
that promote xenophobia.”

“Probably the best-known evidence of FAIR's extremism is its acceptance of
funds from a notorious, New York City-based hate group, the Pioneer Fund.”
 Center for New Community
http://www.buildingdemocracy.org/reports/fair2004.pdf
“Organizations deserving mainstream respectability usually fire disreputable
staff and return cash from nefarious donors. FAIR has done the opposite.
Instead, they’ve attacked the venerable civil rights institution and sided with
a white supremacist foundation.”
 http://www.splcenter.org/intel/intelreport/article.jsp?sid=175Federation for
American Immigration ReformWashington, D.C.www.fairus.orgFounded in 1978 by
John H. Tanton, the Federation for American Immigration Reform (FAIR) is one of
the country's best-established anti-immigration groups — and the richest
beneficiary among them of the largesse of the infamous Pioneer Fund. The Fund,
which has long subsidized dubious studies of the alleged links between race and
intelligence, awarded FAIR $1.2 million between 1985 and 1994, according to the
Institute for the Study of Academic Racism. FAIR now says that it has severed
its links to the controversial Fund.Today, FAIR claims a staggering 70,000
members, although that number is almost certainly inflated. Tanton remains on
FAIR's board and also is the publisher of The Social Contract Press, which
sells racist anti-immigrant tracts.Dan Stein, the group's executive director,
has warned that certain immigrant groups are engaged in 'competitive breeding'
aimed at diminishing white power. Rick Oltman, FAIR's western representative,
has spoken before and worked with the racist Council of Conservative
Citizens.Garrett Hardin, a FAIR board member, has argued that aiding starving
Africans is counterproductive and will only 'encourage population growth.'
Overall, FAIR blames immigrants for crime, poverty, disease, urban sprawl and
increasing racial tensions in America, and calls for a drastic cut in the
numbers of those allowed in.FAIR recently helped run a billboard campaign in
Virginia blaming immigrants for traffic and sprawl. Last summer, FAIR attacked
Sen. Spencer Abraham (R-Mich.), an Arab-American, for supporting more visas for
foreigners with high-technology skills. In radio and TV ads, it said Abraham's
proposal could 'make it easier for [Arab] terrorists like Osama bin Laden to
export their way of terror to any street in America.' FAIR's ads were condemned
across the country and caused former Sen. Alan K. Simpson (R-Wyo.) to resign
from FAIR's advisory board.In a 1997 interview, Tanton said that unless U.S.
borders are sealed, America will be overrun by people 'defecating and creating
garbage and looking for jobs.'
