FM WRTE Radio Arte 

Journalism
and Media Training Program

Radio Arte is looking for
part-time producers (10 hours/ wk.) that will support a group of 5-8
youth (15-23) in the production of Radio Arte’s public
affairs programming. Youth participants are graduate’s and
volunteers of Radio Arte’s Journalism and Media Training Program
and produce programs such as First Voice/Primera Voz and
Homofrecuencia. 




Responsibilities
would include:
Hosting
        editorial/planning meetings with youth 
        
        Supporting
        the research necessary for interviews, informational segments, and
        commentaries,
        Maintaining
        the show's website with monthly updates and featured segments,
        Maintaining
        show archives and podcasts 
        
        Networking
        with youth groups and ally organizations




General
qualifications of an ideal candidate:

there are specific skills necessary to support each one of the shows,
there are some general qualifications. Please look at the specifics
for each of the shows s below)



Have
        experience working with youth ages 15-23
        Have
        a substantial knowledge of issues facing Latino youth, including
        immigration, ageism, sexism, homophobia, etc 
        
        Experience
        working in media, journalism 
        
        Audio
        digital production skills desired, but not required
        Excellent
        research skills, particularly around issues of social justice
        Be
        committed to supporting youth voices, and youth-led work






First Voice: First
Voice (FV) is the English-language edition of First Voice/ Primera
Voz, a public affairs radio show focused on issues of social justice
and the First amendment. FV airs Tuesdays and Thursdays, 6:00 to 7:00
PM. ADDITIONAL QUALIFICATIONS: Bilingual (Spanish/English) 

Primera
Voz: Primera Voz (PV) is the Spanish-language edition of
First Voice/ Primera Voz, a public affairs radio show focused on
issues of social justice and the fFrst amendment. It is the only
bi-weekly Spanish-language radio show produced for and by youth in
the U.S. PV airs Mondays and Wednesdays 6:00 to 7:00 PM. ADDITIONAL
QUALIFICATIONS: Ideal candidate must be fluent in Spanish,
English-language fluency desired. Knowledge of issues faced by
immigrant youth, particularly undocumented immigrants.



Homofrecuencia:
Homofrecuencia is the nation’s only Spanish-language radio show for
and by gay, lesbian, bisexual, transgender, queer, and questioning
(LGBTQ) youth. HF airs weekly on Mondays, from 7:00 PM to 9:00 PM.
ADDITIONAL QUALIFICATINOS: Ideal candidate must be fluent in
Spanish, English-language fluency desired. Must be familiar with
issues facing LGBTQ youth, including immigrant, and Spanish-speaking
youth. Familiarity with the LGBTQ Chicago community, and national
Latino LGBTQ community extremely desired. 





Hourly salary commensurate with
