 The proposal for the National Day of Action Against Raids and Deportations
could not have started in better way; last Thursday, 28 participants from 11
states attended the phone meeting!

Members from the biggest to the smallest cities across the nation, members
of the national antiwar movement and other activist and organizations agreed
that the October 12th action is no only possible but quite appealing for
most of us that want to address the humanitariam crisis around the
persecution of millions of immigrat families in this country.

*PROPOSAL - DRAFT FOR DISCUSSION (Updated on September 15th)*
 *October 12th National Day Against Raids and Oppression  *

*Three main demands:*
 a) An end to the raids and deportations NOW!
b) All presidential candidates endorse an immediate and unconditional
moratorium on the raids and deportations. We also demand that all candidates
be open and transparent as to what they propose to do about immigration. (To
John McCain, Barack Obama, Cynthia McKinney, Ralph Nader, Bob Barr and
others)
 c) Genuine Immigration Reform to be enacted within the first 100 days of
the new government.

 *October 11th National day of action against the War.*
 In each city, whenever possible, coordinate and mesh the immigrant movement
demands and actions with the October 11th National Day of Anti-War Actions.
 We are engaged in virtually the same struggle, We must demand an end to the
war at home and abroad!

*Each endorsing organization to have 100% independence on thire specific
actions and message*
The above 3 basic demands can be taken as a template or common place to
depart from, and that any demand can be added or expanded as each
organization prefers IN THEIR OWN communications and / or literature.

Each city and / or organization lay out their own activities, some examples:
Vigils, forums, panel discussions, rallies in front of DHS, rallies in front
of local Republican or/and Democratic party campaign headquarters, community
delegations to the main candidates to demand that they endorse a moratorium
on deportations, concerts, ....

*Strike together and act like one body against DHS Deportations*
To all organizations to send a coordinated press release on Tuesday
September 30th to all media in each city, to kick off the national action.

To all organzations to include i their communicatiosn, when possible, that
its actiosn is part of the "October 12th National Day Against Raids and
Oppression "

To all rallies to use, when possible, the slogan "Basta Ya! enought is
enought!"
