PRESS CONFERENCE
CONFERENCIA DE PRENSA

"Luis Gutierrez is using a member of the Latino immigrant community to keep his
seat in Congress after 16 years of not doing anything. That is just hypocrisy",
says Reverend Jose Landaverde, from Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Anglican
Mission in Little Village.

"At the Mission we have helped dozens of immigrants taken by Immigration and
Customs Enforcement, without a single politician giving us a hand. And now Luis
Gutierrez is trying to put himself in front of the issue by helping one
immigrant", says Landaverde, referring to Gutierrez "helping" Francisca Lino, a
mother in deportation proceedings. "He should remember there are 12 million
undocumented immigrants in this country and work for all of them".

As a mater of fact, Luis Gutierrez presented in Congress the STRIVE Act of
2007, which considered undocumented immigrants as federal criminals, provided
for a huge increase in the ICE budget to persecute immigrants, provided for
many new detention centers and provided for jail terms for employers who hired
undocumented workers.

Parishioners from Our Lady of Guadalupe will hold a PROTEST and PRESS
CONFERENCE in front of Luis Gutierrez office, at 2011 W. North Ave, on MONDAY,
October 27, 2008, at 11 a.m., to request he intercedes for all immigrants in
deportation proceedings and not only one for political reasons two weeks prior
to the election.

contrataran a trabajadores indocumentados.

The Green Party Candidate who promises to represent the WHOLE 4th Congressional
District!

VivirLatino writes that Nancy Pelosi stated that America is  not ready for
AMNESTY for illegal aliens.  The article expresses the need to do something
about the immigration dilemma but not until bi-partisanship can be obtained in
2009 or later.  Ms. Rosanna Pulido [EMAIL PROTECTED] is very happy to see the
Democrats flip-flopping on the Broken Immigration System that permeates
throughout America.

Where are our Latino Representation?
Where are our Latino Congressional Caucus?  Where, where, where?
Omar Lopez get your people ready to make REAL CHANGE!

Hispanics Account for Half of U.S. Population Growth Since 2000, New Report
Finds WASHINGTON - Hispanics accounted for just over half of the overall
population growth in the United States since 2000 - a significant new
demographic milestone for the nation's largest minority group, a new Pew
Hispanic Center report released today finds.

The report, "Latino Settlement in the New Century," includes a series of
web-based interactive maps that illustrate the size and spread of Hispanic
population growth since 1980, including easy access to detailed state and
county-level data. It also presents a list of the counties with the largest
Hispanic populations, as well as a list of those counties with the
fastest-growing Hispanic populations.

In the 1990s the Hispanic population also expanded rapidly, but its growth
accounted for less than 40% of the nation's total population increase in that
decade. From 2000 to 2007, Latinos accounted for 50.5% of the total U.S.
population growth, even though, as of mid-2007, they made up just 15.1% of the
total population.

Percentage growth in the Hispanic population from 2000 to 2007 exceeded 300% in
three counties - Frederick and Culpeper counties in Virginia and Paulding
County in Georgia. These two states are home to eight of the 10 counties with
the greatest percentage growth in the Hispanic population since 2000. The other
two counties are Kendall County in Illinois and Luzerne County in Pennsylvania.
