Just built the 4.8.0rc3 tarball with gcc-4.7 and DEBUGBUILD=1 (installed Debian unstable on a chroot environment) and the lolevel test that was breaking works now! So it seems that it is a gcc issue on PPC. I'm building the 4.8.0rc3 tarball with DEBUGBUILD unset to confirm it is ok. Best wishes.
