Please stay right here! I have a 'not quite right' chihuahua that will never end up in rescue. She is Mollie Mary and she is 1 1/2 years old and I thought she was perfect when I bought her, but it turns out she has one leg that does not fit properly into her hip joint (think I said that alright) and she began to limp at about 7 months of age. We had her examined thoroughly, x-rayed, and she is now on Chondroitin-glucosomine and knock wood - doing fine!   Since I didn't really care about showing her or breeding her to begin with (unless I decided to in the future)..it wasn't important to me whether she was perfect or not, but I didn't expect her leg to have a problem. She just looked perfectly cute to me (some I'd looked at, I had no feelings toward) and I was assured she was! I was given her papers, which did look a little 'suspect' to me - one parent was registered as CHC? and one was AKC..I'd never heard of CHC...but since I bought Mollie for pet reasons, I just didn't care about her heritage.  I didn't attempt to send in her papers at all.     I would never buy another chihuahua though from the person who I bought Mollie from.  I'm not sure she actually knew the dog was imperfect; however, I think she had to know about her face...she has an 'overbite' on one side...which I didn't really notice until the vet pointed it out and called it a name. I thought maybe she had 'puppy fat' on one side of her mouth...call me 'highly intelligent!'..     We love our Mollie and we'll keep her, but if I'd bought her with the idea of breeding her or showing her, I have no idea what turmoil the lady I bought her from would have gone through with me! I would have demanded my money back.....but I would not have given back the dog! I think I would have turned her into the CHC and the AKC..     The real breeder was supposed to live in CT and be her best friend? The lady I bought Mollie from breeds Yorkies, and she said she bought? Mollie from her friend because she was considering breeding chis...then decided she didn't want to and put Mollie up for sale.     I don't neccesarily believe that. I think she took the dog to get it away from the other dogs in the litter....because Mollie is imperfect. I think one has to really keep one's eyes open when purchasing a dog, insist that the dog be taken to a vet before purchase for a thorough examination....I'm not sure that would be easy to do....
