Renee - I tried to litterbox train my 1 1/2 year Chi, but he just
liked to eat the litter (the dog litter is different than cat
litter), so needless to say that it did not work for him. However,
my 4 month old uses the litter box without any problems, that is
when he doesn't have an accident somewhere else in the house. I am
currently training Cruz to use the the litter box in the same way
that I trained Paco to use the potty pad. Perhaps you could try the
litter box outside the doggy cage while still keeping the paper in
the cage for awhile so she gets used to the litter box, and
eventually you can remove the paper from the cage. As she gets
older she will hopefully wait until she is let out of the cage to go
to the bathroom. But remember that as soon as you let her out of
the cage to take to the litter box right away. Good luck!!
