I would have to agree with the others on this. Put his leash on him indoors and leave it on him all day. Let him drag it around to get used to.
To teach him to walk on it, walk up casually while in the house and pick up the leash and call him to you while gently reeling him in. When he gets to you, give him a treat. Do this a few times, but only a few. Then later pick up the leash and tell him "Let's Go" and walk across the room constantly calling him and gently pulling on the leash.
Now he will have a moment where he where freak out and jump and kick and resist. Let him throw his fit when he is doen with his fit contiune reeling him in and calling him, when he gets to you give him a treat.
If you give in during his fit you will be reinforcing the bad behavior. Let him walk you for a bit just to let him get used to walking on the leash but every now and again, insist he walk to you by reeling him in...
