When I first got my Kallie she wouldn't eat her food until I mixed a 
teaspoon of soft canned food it with it.  Now the other four dogs 
have to have some in theirs too!  LOL

But seriously, if you haven't had him to vet for a checkup yet you 
might consider doing that.  Maybe he has a bad tooth or something.  
My Tipper, who's only four years old stopped eating back in 
February, and when I checked out her mouth she had a cracked tooth 
and a loose tooth.  After she had a dental she went right back to 
eating.
