I am so sorry to hear about your little Sophie. I have a one eyed dog. She
lost an eye after being run over. She looks a little strange from that side
now, but otherwise is no worse for the wear. If worse comes to worse and
Sophia looses her eye, don't let it effect your relationship....she is still
the same little Sophie.

As for leaving her at the vet. I would go ahead and leave her. It would be
much better to be separated for a short while than to take the chance of
something going wrong at home that you are unprepared to handle. We had one
cat that spent 3 weeks at the vet. We missed him terribly, but when he
finally did come home, we knew he was safe from harm and all danger had
passed. It was worth it to know his life was not in danger. The fact that
you have left familiar things with her should help her. And if your vet is
anything like mine, she is getting lots of love and attention, even if she
is homesick and missing you. If it turns into an extensive stay, insist on
getting to see her for short visits. Maybe be the one to take her to potty
or change the cage, ect. Let her know you are still there and haven't
abandoned her.

She will be in my prayers.
Marsha
