How old is your chi? If he is still a pup, he should not have access to run
around the house while you are gone. He needs to be confines to an
area....both for his safety and your sanity :-) If crating is not an option,
at least confine him to one room where his potty pad is and make sure you
are consistent with where you place the potty pad. If he is not yet
housebroken and you are gone for that period of time everyday, you are
probably facing a long hard battle to housebreaking him, as he will need to
relieve himself more often.
