Normally the mom will be able to go home almost immediately after the c-section. Your vet will close the incision, check her temperature, and make sure that she is fully awake. Most dogs come to within 10 to 20 min. after surgery. Some take a little longer. Your female will still be groggy (sp?) and a little "out of it" when you get her home, but she will be able to nurse. You will have to put the pup(s) on her to get them started. Just make sure to supervise them as mom will still be somewhat drugged (you don't want her to accidently roll over on them). Then of course you have the possibility that mom maynot want to have anything to do with the pups, so make sure they are getting enough to eat. I'm sure Marsha or any other breeders will be able to add to this. ~Lacey
