Your last part reminded me of when I was a kid. The only cats I was allowed had to live outdoors. If they really hated their lives - they had the obvious ability to move to the neighbors. My cats used to let me bring them in the house and dress them in doll dresses and bonnets and then place them ina baby buggy and stroll around. They knew the routine, as we played it often enough - they seemed to enjoy it as much as I did and never moved away, nor ran from me when they saw me coming.
