I would probably use only  a 3rd or 4th of the up to 22 on him. but you can
adjust as needed...for instance if you find something on him, maybe it
wasn't enough. I just set my left overs up so they don't spill , they seem
to last. But I rarely have left overs since I treat all of my dogs with one.
My personal experience has been that every three months works for fleas, but
not ticks. If ticks is a problem, I would go every month.  I had a pup that
had had a sever allergic reaction to his puppy shots, but he did not react
to the frontline, but that might have been because he got his puppy shots at
only 6 weeks and I don't put frontline on them till they are 5 or 6 months.
You may want to run that one by your vet and see. Good luck
