I'm not sure why you wrote this to me as I agreed with you. However I am in the bussiness of rasing, and selling horses. I will also only have two Chihuhuas when I get into breeding them, and sell the pups. However I have a very strict poloice(sp). In fact my parents joke that it would be a lot eaiser to get a human child from me then it would be to get a animal from me. LOL.

I think there are too many people who know far too little doing far to much of what they should not be doing.

I am sorry that you haven taken offence at what has been said, but I compeletly agree with Nonnie. Breeding dogs just for breeding sake is wrong. Unfortantly the damage has already been done. Chances are she was already pregnate before you posted your frist post. Like humans it only takes one time. However I do disagree with you. You have absolutly no clue what you are doing. Sorry, but I wondered why you had a dog in the frist place when I read your frist post. You were asking questions that even someone that doesn't like dogs would know. It seems to me that you don't know one thing about dogs themselves let alone about breeding them. However all of this aside; as I said eariler the damage is done now. You have about two months to read, and find out everything you can about welping litters. Also since you don't know what kind of health your female is in, let alone the health of her family tree you should prepare yourselve for the death of not only the litter, but also of your female. I'm not saying that she, or the pups will die, but the chance of it happening is very real. I have been learning all I can because I want to be a Chihuahua breeder myself, and since I can't get any Chihuahuas right now due to a house already overflowing with animals (LOL) I am using this time to learn. I have heard about so many pups dying that were born to competely healhty parents. So many in fact that I am really serching myself to see if I can handle being a breeder of Chihuahuas. I get attached so easily that I'm not sure I could handle one death after the other. However I am also like that other person. Though I think you are very illresponsiable, and shouldn't have a dog until you learn about them I will help you out if I can, and you want my help. If she is pregnate like I am sure she is; you are going to need it. As the only thing you can do now to prevent this is to spay her.

Chihuahuas like any other breed of animal have congenital defects that are genetically passed and may not be evident.  The prudent person doesn't put 2 dogs together and breed.

The reason we are mating them is because we would love to let her have a litter of pups! My mom and I love chihuahuas! The whole side of my mom's family likes chihuahuas and think their all cute =D After Dina has her first litter we are thinking of neutering her. But we're planning on keeping 1 or 2 pups of hers. If she does have more then we're expecting then my aunt Carla, my grandmother Rose, and my cousin (27 years old) Liz said they would be able to adopt them. And since we know them very well and they have no small kids in their household, that the pups would be well taken care of with them.
 
Nonnie I think you're being a little too picky. It's not like my family doesn't know what we/they are doing. If we need any more help/suggestions we can contact Dina's vet or the breeder we bought her from. I was just hoping to get some assitance on the web, too. I'd like to know as much as I can before they have pups.

have you health tested them and their genetic lines so as to prevent alot of the genetic abnormalities that are present in the breed?  You should not be just mating 2 dogs.  What is the reason that you are mating them?

My female chihuahau (Dina) is 14 months old and this is the first
time she is going to be...mating with another male chihuahua.

My mom's friend is the person that Ricky (Dina's bf) belongs to, and
so Ricky will be at our house for 1-2 weeks or as long as it takes
to get my dog pregnant. We just brought Ricky on Monday and at first
Dina was afraid of Ricky because she is never with another dog exept
her best friend (Sunny...a golden retreiver), and she was pretty
strict with Ricky. But on Monday night we put the both of them in a
large kennel/crate and Dina seemed to still be afraid of Ricky, but
Ricky wanted to get down to "buisness" and he kept sniffing Dina and
trying to get on her but she wouldn't let him. And now they seem to
be getting along great! Well today I took both Ricky and Dina a bath
and I brought both of them in to my room. Then when I was on my
computer I saw Ricky humping Dina. My friend told me that I am NOT
supposed to interupt them or anything...but if they all of a sudden
start doing it when can I go bring them back to their kennel? And
how long do they usually do it for? How many times and for how many
days do they need to do it for so that Ricky can get her pregnant?
And after he gets her pregnant how long will it be until she has her
pups?
