Hi, I am a newbie, actually have not even introduced myself. I have been lurking and reading for about a month. I just had to respond to your posting.
I understand about the being 'poor' thing even with a good education and career. My sister is an M.D. She had a private practice in Texas. She had so many poor patients and single moms that she actualy worked two extra jobs to support her practice. She worked as an industrial doctor before her office opened and at a 'fat clinic' two nights a week. She just could not bear to charge the poor folk what the going rate was. She also insisted on paying her office staff well and providing benefits. She eventually closed her practice and went to work for the Texas University System. I also have an adult child with a dual diagnosis of mental illness and borderline retardation. It ws very difficult for many years. She was in and out of locked facilities. She now has a one on one living environment which works as much as anything is ever going to work. She still has periods where her meds are not doing their magic and she needs help. I could go on and on, but my point is that I GET IT. My other two older children are healthy and wonderful. My youngest son was born with some physical problems, but we have worked our way through all that and he is an 18 yr. old now. Still some issues, but God is in control. so we are blessed. Since this is essentially a chihuahua group I will say I have a 5 lb. long haired black and tan chihua named Holly. She is very sweet and very loved. I also had a lovely little girl 4 lb., blue, named Emily that was attacked and killed by a German Shepherd in our own yard. I miss her dreadfully, but what can you do?? Someday, I will find another little blue girl to love!! I also have a french bulldog that we rescued two months ago. She is delightful. I am an emergency room nurse loving with my retired police officer husband and doggies in northern California. Marky ------------------------ Yahoo!
