It sounds to me like he's taking an alpha role in your household. That is,
he's not respecting you or other humans and is exercising dominance. That
may be the reason he's not like that in the dog park...other dogs are
dominant over him so he backs off. My chihuahua had the same unfortunate
behavior. I was able to reform him by changing my own behavior. When we
go outside for walks or any other reason, he NEVER gets to go through the
door first. (Or in when we return.) He never gets to walk in front of me.
He doesn't get to be on the furniture unless he has permission. He must
leave the room while we are eating and not beg. If he's sitting in my lap
and growls at someone who gets too close (mostly children), he gets put on
the floor immediately. He still gets nonstop love and affection, kisses and
hugs, and treats, but he must behave himself or he gets none of it. He
seems happier now, too. Less nervous trembling and the like. I le arned
this stuff from watching every episode of Dog Whisperer and from being
consistent with the rules. Good Luck with the neutering!
