I think the answer can only be found within yourself. Only you
can determine if you are able to care for a certain number of pets. Just take
everything into consideration...the cost of care, the time involved, the ability
to give individual attention, ect. Don't forget to also think about unexpected
emergencies that could arise like vet bills or family responsibilities that may
take you away for a time. In the end, only you can make the right decision for
you.
Personally, right now, I have 8 dogs, 4 cats and a rabbit.
This year I have lost one chi, one lamb and one parakeet and sold one horse.
There are always pets coming in and out of my life. I have developed a good
relationship with my vet and know that if an emergency arises, I have a payment
plan option and can get my pets the necessary medical treatment regardless of
any current finances. I have outside help that can care for my pets should I
need to be gone for a few days. And I take turns each day taking one of my dogs
with me for the day for a little one on one time. IT all works for
me.
