I recently switched to Chicken Soup because it is in the same calorie range as what I was feeding (I have an overweight chi) and I like the ingredients - top 4 are protein and no corn. Lots of veggies and fruits. 336 calories per cup. (Look at the difference in calories per cup from this food to some of those below.)

Flavors in the following brands vary from ___-___calories per cup. I am only including some with no corn in the top 5 ingredients. Unknown if in 6-? ingredients.

Blue (Buffalo) 442-557 cal per cup. One or two protein sources in top 3 ingredients.

Canidae 400-475. One or two protein sources in top 3 ingredients.

Doctors Foster and Smith 359-395. Two protein sources in top 3.

Eagle Pack Holistic Select 356-411. Protein source in top 1.

Flint River Ranch 325-477. Protein source in top 1. One addl protein source in top 5.

Innova EVO or Dry 537-557. Protein sources top 3-4. EVO has 42% protein if worried about protein %.

Innova California Naturals 419-511 (not reduced calorie flavors). Protein top 1.

Innova Health Wise 382-446. Protein in top 1.

I'll stop here. It's tiring copying from my spreadsheet. Hope this helps.

If you'd like to see my spreadsheet and can open an Excel 2003 file, let me know and I'll email it to you.

It has many brands/flavors of foods. Website addresses. Calories/protein %. Now adding fab/fiber %. Top five ingredients. Color coded for protein sources, etc.

My nam is Anne in FL.  I am owned by a Boston Terrier (Nucklehead) and
recently became step mom to a Chihuahua named Bear.  Bear is 1 year
old, full of energy and personality.  He also does not bark at every
little thing.  Bear is very friendly and likes just about everyone he
meets.  Him and Nucklehead get along wonderfully despite the size
difference. We recently moved in with my boyfriend, Nucklehead and
Bear play CONSTANTLY.  Also I have a 2 year old son that plays with
both dogs A LOT.  My boyfriend said he has noticed Bear losing a
little weight lately.  We think it is due to the extra activity that
he is not use to.  We are feeding both dogs dry Chicken Soup for the
Dog Lover's Soul mixed with wet Pedigree.  Can anyone suggest
something we can feed Bear to get some of his weight back on then to
maintain it??
