I'm sorry, I know this isn't what you want to hear, but I'd head for whatever vet I can get to.  If the infection was severe enough to affect the use of his leg, this wasn't just a matter of a little boil.  Infections are serious business in small dogs and he probably needs antibiotics NOW.  In the meantime, wet a washcloth with HOT water, as hot as you think he can stand, squeeze it out, and keep it pressed to the area to draw out the infection, re-heating the cloth periodically.  But I really do believe you need to head for the vet's.   Anne   __._,_.___ " Lets talk about our wonderful little friends!
