Thanks for your imput.  Its not usually food that sets Tiffany off.  That just happened to be a factor last night.  Any time one of the other pets is getting affection from one of us or simply just being in Tiff's line of vision, she is apt to attack.  It was really getting better and today has been good, but the pure viciousness of her attacks when she does have them, is scary and discouraging.

This is why I still feed Minnie in her crate. My older chi....Lacie, outweighs Minnie by about 12 lbs and could hurt her if they ever get in a fight over food. Laci is getting old and doesn't have much patience. I have a shelf board on top of Minnies crate for the cats to eat on so everybody is happy :-)

I thought Tiffany was finally getting to the point where she gets along with our other dog and our cat.  But the past few days, she just attacks, viciously. For no particular reason, usually.   Last night our other dog approached Tiffany's food bowl and Tiffany went wild...jumping on Bailey, biting, etc.  It was frightening.  Bailey is very docile, but this time he understandably fought back.  We put Tiffany in her crate.  I don't like using that as a punishment, it was really more just to protect the other two pets.  I then fed those two and got them out of the area.  Then we fed Tiffany.  I'm not sure how to approach this problem.  My daughter seperated them last night, but I was afraid that SHE would get bit by one of them.  Maybe a spray bottle of water?  I don't like yelling, that terrifies Tiffany.  And I certainly won't smack her.  Any ideas beyond the water bottle?  Thanks.

Some cats and dogs get along, and some don't. I don't know how you can tell in advance which way it'll be. And there may be some way to 'get them to get along' - I just don't know how.

What kind of chi mix are you looking for? Why a chi mix? Are you talking 'designer dog'?

Many folks says 'mutts' tend to be healthier than pure-breeds. With a chi mix, I think you're getting potential health problems of a chi plus potential health problems of the 'mix'. I'd want to know what health problems tend to be associated with the 'other' breed involved.

Well, I guess there are a few things I can think of that I would look for with the breeder. A good health guarantee. Letting you see/interact with the puppies. (Some say you can't because you might give them a disease - I wouldn't want a puppy I couldn't have some interaction with.) A breeder that only breeds one or two types of dog. Who doesn't have very many litters per year. Who raises them in their house as 'members' of their families. Socialization with people and other animals. Doesn't sell them too young (before 8-12 weeks of age).

That's what I can think of off the top of my head.
