Bernie was a rescue who came with lots of issues, and my teenage daughter, for
one, has
grown to loathe him. He has stretched her patience to the limits, and broken
her heart.
He strongly prefers me, almost never being aggressive toward me (though
sometimes he
is). But with her he growls, snarls, and sometimes snaps at her. It is so
painful to see
her approach him lovingly and have him react that way. it breaks my heart.

Many times I've considered finding a new home for him. But being passed from
person to
person seems just too cruel, especially for a dog who obviously is a one-person
type.

Is this situation more typical of Chi's than other small breeds? If so then I
can see why
rescues might be picky about who they go to. Had I known all this then, I
certainly
wouldn't have taken a rescue Chi (though I love him a lot and my daughter has
learned a
great lesson in forgiveness). :)

I've
rescued 3 yorkies and was never told I had to have a yorkie to rescue one. So I
was
wondering why Chi rescue was different.
