Our poodle will run any time he gets the opportunity. Its frustrating. He plays a big game where he'll slow up till we get close then take off. Or his favorite....come running up to us like he's going to hop into our arms then just as he gets within reach, he goes around us and continues running. The whole neighborhood watches our little show. Sometimes it works if we drive the van and open the doors because he loves car rides. More typically though, one of the girls has to run around till he gets tired and stops to rest. My big fear is that he'll either get hit by a car or someone will hurt him if he runs up to them like a crazy dog. Also he loves to chase kids on bikes and will try to catch them by biting at their shoes or pant legs. Obviously, this is really dangerous so we keep a very tight rein on Bailey.
Tiffany will try to run out but she stops as soon as she is told to. Once, when we first got her, she did take off and ran a few blocks with my husband in tow. He caught up with her when she ran up to a guy sitting in his truck with the door open. Tiffany hopped in his lap and sat on the seat next to him lol. The guy thought she was comical. Pete had a few other descriptive terms in mind LOL. Donna NJ -------------- Original message -------------- From: "marsha" <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> Hope you are feeling better from your fall! This was not an unusual event with Cookie. I have to go after her alot because she escapes (she is a real Houdini!) She is the only pet I have to confine because she will go straight to the road and has no fear of cars. She got ran over about 4 years ago and lost an eye as a result....that is when I made the decision to confine her, and she did not learn a lesson! I was embarrassed about the way I looked and knowing that half the people who passed me on the road in our small rural community, knew me, lol. Many were teachers on their way to school!! lol, but it was worth it to bring her home again. But, it was my birthday and I had planned to treat myself by sleeping in late. Cookie had other plans for me :-) Marsha ----- Original Message ----- From: Klarie R?;/A> To: [email protected] Sent: Saturday, December 02, 2006 3:59 AM Subject: Re: [Chihuahuas] Re: Lost Chihuahua Hi Marsha, Next to laughing about your looks, it is terrifying. This morning I went for a walk with Max and stepped on a stone under the leaves or so, I fell, but I was able to hold the line. I've hurt my wrist and hip, but that will be OK. Can't think of him being hurt by a car or anything. Good that you could catch her again. I chased her for a mile both through the woods and along the busy road (I was in my pajamas and my hair looked like medusa!!) I was so tired from all the running and would have to stop to take breaks...the brat would stop and wait for me to rest and as soon as I was able to get up again, I swear she would look at me, laugh and take off again! I finally caught her a mile from home and had to carry her all the way back! There were a few times she came so close to being ran over and I was crying hysterically. I Thank the good Lord I was one of the lucky ones that was bale to bring my baby back!! I don't know what I would do if my Chico ran off and didn't come back. I don't even want to think about it. I feel so bad for the person who lost their Chichi. I hope he returns safely.
