I think three weeks is about the right estimate. When I bred English Setters, that seemed to be the amount of time they were in heat, most fertile on the 12th and 13th day of heat. Poor baby :-( -- em

Luna's first and only heat lasted about three weeks before she could be spayed, but when I got her, she had already entered heat, so I don't know how long she'd been in heat before that. The poor dog was clearly miserable, kept licking at herself and whimpering. Anne
