heart problems are, unfortunately, one of the health problems chis tend to be
prone to. My mom's chi has had seizures for years and they are so scary. Give
this group a few days and I am sure you will get a lot of helpful info since
this discussion has come up quiet a bit and there seems to be a lot of
experience on this in this group.

With Chiffon, they have found no specific reason for her seizures except what
they called "dog epilepsy", basically a nice way of saying they don't know why.
She has had full work ups of everykind imaginable but they can not find any
health problems. Vet says she is fit as a fiddle....but still she has the
seizures. All we can do for her is hold her and comfort her while they are
happening and make sure she is not able to fall and get hurt.

Others on here have been given reason's for their chi's seizures and will be
able to tell you more about what is wrong with theirs.

Hi everyone! I am glad to have found this group!
I have a male chi named Paco. He is 8 yrs old. Last year he started
having seizures and I took him to the vet. While there for that, we
found out he had a heart murmur. The vet put him on Enalapril 1 mg x
once per day. He was fine for a few months.

Last Saturday, the seizures returned....3 in a 24 hour period. Sunday
we were in the Animal Medical Center. I walked in, told them about the
seizures and murmur and they took him right into triage. Well he was
having heart failure so they admitted him right away. They did all
sorts of testing on him but still do not know the cause of the
seizures. I have no nerves left in my body to handle this...I am so
scared to lose him. He had another seizure this morning. I can't afford
to take him back to the animal medical center. I already paid $1400
for 2 days there and don't know what else to do.

Anyone ever have this problem with seizures and/or heart murmurs?
Please talk to me and let me know I am not alone in this!

  Jovita
