I agree with Elaine,  I don't know why anyone would want to take back
food once given to a dog.  Whats the point? Its natural for a dog to
protect its food,  not difficult to understand that is it?  One of my
Chis does the same exact thing, and I would never ever punish her for
protecting her food or treat.  Once its given to her it belongs to her! 
Dogs dont have much to call their own in this world in their short
lives, and they all value their food, as it should be.
