I was very specific about the need for the command
to drop food. My dogs have always understood that
voice command. Anyone who walks a dog outside
understands the necessity of such a command.

"There is a difference and dogs seem to
sense a command to drop unknown food."

I still have problems with giving and then taking
away the food item from a dog in their home
surroundings. I see nothing but confusion
resulting from that maneuver.

I assume you are scheduling feedings being the
dogs are on a prescription diet. In my own case
when the house was full -- three dogs -- the only
way I could have fed "musn't eat" foods to only
one animal would have been to feed each animal
separate and apart from the others, which would
have met on schedule while the others were caged,
then food removed, each one being fed alternately
and alone and any remaining food removed.
