He may not develop further problems as he gets older, as the condition
sometimes stabilizes for many years.  My Swee'Pea, for example, has
had Grade 1 luxation in one leg for 12 years now, it has not gotten
any worse.  Also, vets have different levels of experience with this
sort of thing.  If you live near a major Veterinary School or Animal
Hospital, you may want to have a canine orthopedic specialist take a
look, he/she may be able to suggest a surgical remediation beyond the
capabilities of your vet.  At only 2 years old I am surprised that
your vet believes the knees are that far gone, but it is possible.  A
general rule when there is any knee problems is to watch the dogs
weight, a fat doggy puts more stress on the joints with every step.
