Hi Furdion. Sorry, here in the states there is a breed called the Australian Shepherd, even though they aren't from Australia originally. I have the "Miniature" version of the breed. The "standard" version is accepted by the AKC. Both sizes were actually developed in America. Somewhere along the way, they were named the Australian Shepherd for some reason.
Anyway, they are herding dogs (obviously) and they look a little like the Border Collie, only with a docked tail. They are bigger boned than the BC and not quite as driven. They are still used to herd sheep in America today. They also make wonderful companions. An Australian Shepherd actually won the Crufts dog show in England last year. They are wonderful, sweet, smart dogs! Chihuahuas are nothing like them in looks, but both make wonderful pets! Hope this helps!
