As I'm sure you all know, Chis don't really like the rain. As a result I'm
trying to papertrain my
chi, just so he has options. He loves his walks and we live 1 block away from
a dog park
where he has lots of friends and I love going there with him.
For the past 2 months I have been trying to get him to pee on command. I treat
him EVERY
time he goes pee and I say good pottie just as he begins his leg lift for
urination. I started
introducing the wee wee pad a few days ago and a couple of things have strarted
happening.
I put him on the pad and say go potie and he ignores me and walks away, also
when we are
out on his walks and I want to give him a good pottie treat, when he's gone he
ignores me.
Additionally, I have yet to get him to actually pee on command.
So really, there are 2 issues:
1) Might he not want to pee in the house: due to stubborness or preference, or
perhaps fear?
2) Is he confused that I'm asking him to go in the house?
I know that there are tons of schools of thought about going inside and outside
and only
doing one....
I should also mention, he was never crate trained, but I'm trying to get him
used to his crate
for a variety of reasons, but not to use as a pottie training tool b/c he's
already house
broken.
Thanks in Advance,
Renee
