I think she's talking about compulsive licking.
One of my chis, Luna, borders on compulsive licking. Her paw licking is
decreasing now that I've switched her to a homemade diet (some people say
paw licking is linked to food allergies), but believe me, paws are only the
beginning. She'll wash my other chihuahua, Chiclet's, ears, eyes and face
until Chiclet flees. Luna always wants to lick my face, kiss my nose or
mouth, but her favorite is, believe it or not, the backs of my (or anybody
else's) ears. She doesn't have any other nervous habits, and I can't
imagine how she feels secure, because she gets hours and hours of cuddling
and play every day, and I'm very careful to praise my girls' good behavior.
I guess she's just orally fixated.<G>
