I don't see anything wrong on Steves accent!!! I know AU history and the
culture found there, as Asians for example. Sorry if I ofended you but to me
accents are not such a big deal as I speak several languages and have an accent
myself. I was born in a small island and people there have different accents so
I most likely expect the same from other places. My family came from Lombardia,
Italia and they have an Italian accent found only in North Italy, my accent is
a combo of Italian with puertorican and of course English (American English) I
don't expect eveybody in AU to have Steve's accent, he was what we consider a
'Hillbilly" I just told you I have trainned myself in australianisms which are
commonly spoken in AU as "mate, reckon....and words like that. Here in the
states for example just because I know Spanish people think I'm Mexican which
brings the illegal aliens issue.,which I'm not.
But just to be straight with you I'm not here to offend anyone. Since the
beggining I've been submited to question after question here in the group and
I've been patient, people judged me for what they thought they knew about me so
don't think that just because You THINK I wanted to be rude with you I was. I
love AU and love AU accents, Steve Irwin was my hero and that's all I said....I
didn't generalize. You're from England and don't like people to think that just
because you live in AU you are one.......don't worry I was trying to be friend
with an Australian

Like a lot of countrys we do not sound like Steve or Crocodile Dundee.
This is a multi-cultural nation and some might find offensive the idea
that we all speak 'Strine". I have no clue where Steve originated from.
But my brother works as the manager for his charity. That part of my
family where very cut up after his death.
We are English and not born here, my children where of course as are my
grandchildren and my daughter in law is Italian. So you will find a
vast array of people here and not too many with 'Australian accents'
