Yes it is so hard especially if you are used to training dogs that are
competely trained in a couple of weeks. Before I had Chis that is the
way it was. When Robin came he marked his territory and had accidents
and also if I was at work sometimes he couldnt wait but I accepted
that. With Salome it seems to be a whole 'nuther story. She just
crouches without warning and there is no way to catch her. I have taken
her outside and praised her but she still goes inside, sometimes after
she has just come in. It drives me nuts. It is mainly in the lounge
area and I cant restrict her area as that would mean restricting Robins
area. Also my house is open plan. The bathroom is too tidy and she
would go berserk left in the kitchen area if I tied it off somehow. I
was told that they have no control until about 5 months and I hope that
that changes things. As I have said in the past with other breeds I
have managed to catch them but not my dear Salome and I dont want nor
do I have a 'crate'
If your Chi is small you can train them to use kitty litter but as I
have cats that is not wise for me. I have enough trouble getting to the
cat poo before she does. Blessings Furdion
