That's hillarious!! At least he tries to help that great wolf of the north, he
is a gentleman!!!!
My Beagle (now in PR due 2 health problems) used to howl at the wolves too
(police and firemen siren) I miss him a lot

I read some howls are used as a communication to the lost so they
could find their way back. Rein is letting them know where to find her LOL with
a little punctuation at her bark!
Your right its always very serious. At noon everyday the great wolf of the
north (firehouse down the street siren) is lost and henry goes to the window
closest to that direction and tries to help her find her way home.

How sweet!!
Rein only howls like you described when someone comes in the front door and
she's back in the bedroom and can't see who's coming. She does the normal
barking and each stream of barks is concluded with her raising her head back
and giving a short howl. It's cute! We haven't tried to get her to sing yet -
maybe that would bring out more howls! We'll have to try!

I don't have a photo of him howling but trust me it is a hoot!
He throws his head up in the air and is so serious about it.

I'd love to see him howling with your Basset Hounds! I bet that's really
fun to watch!
