how agressive they are depends on how they are trained. I had a litter of pups
in November...I kept one girl and gave one girl to my mom. The girl I gave mom
was the biggest in the litter. Now, the one I kept is a whole pound more than
the one I gave mom and it has nothing to do with how much they are fed....it is
really hard to predict how big a pup will eventually be...even the chi weight
chart is not considered accurate until at least 8 weeks of age (and a pup
should not leave it's mom till it is 8 to 10 weeks MINIMUM) Anyways, my son
has been staying with my mom and he is very hyper and roughhouses the pup she
has. The one I kept is not roughhoused and is corrected for misbehavior. My mom
tends to baby misbehavior in her pup. Bottom line, her pup is quiet a bit more
aggressive than mine because she has been raised that way. I am trying to break
her of it when I go there because she is starting to growl and snip when people
pick her up. I will not allow that from my dogs and am trying to break mom's
pup of it.

Sooo, the level of aggression has to do mostly with the environment they are
raised....Your niece needs to make sure that the pup is not being roughhoused
by the kids and needs to set corrective boundaries. As far as
weight...perfectly normal

Subject: [Chihuahuas] New puppy being aggressive

My niece and I just bought chihuahua puppies. They are 7 weeks old
today. We bought them a week ago. I bought a little boy, we named
Bailey. And she got a girl, and named her Misty. Her puppy(Misty) is
being very aggresive toward eveyone in the family. She growls and
try's to bite whenever she is touched or picked up. My puppy will
growl a little, but not as much as Misty. And now she is trying to
bite. Is this normal for a Chihuahua to be this aggressive? Will she
continue to be like this? She was the most out going a playful puppy
in the litter. They have small kids in the family and are
considering finding her a new home or seeing if the breeder will
  take back the puppy.
Misty has also gained a pound in one week. She is much bigger than
her brother and they were the same size when we bought them. Is that
to much of a gain for a Chihuahua? She is almost 3 pounds. I think
they may be feeding her to much. They went through a half of a 14 oz.
can of 2nd step esbilac puppy weaning formula, the dry stuff, in one
week. They were mixing that in with her puppy chow and water. Way to
  much.

  Thanks in Advance,
  Lisa
