Karla, maybe you could try to foster a little dog and see how it goes with
Cheeka. Lots of rescues need foster homes for dogs and cats. It would only be
temporary until the dog finds a forever home. That way, you can find out if
Cheeka is barking because she is lonley and see if adding another dog to the
family will help. Who knows, maybe they will get along great and Cheeka will
stop her barking and you can adopt the dog yourself! It may be worth a try???

I liked that you said "I don't want to get evicted" rather than saying "I
don't want to give her up"! Since the problems have come after loosing her
playmate, sounds like loneliness to me. I would suggest you first try to get
her another companion if you can.

  Subject: [Chihuahuas] Chi barking problem....

Hello everyone I am having a problem and was wondering if anyone
could offer some advice.

My one year old chihuahua (Cheeka) goes crazy whenever I leave her
alone in my apartment. She screams at the top of her lungs for
hours!!! My neighbors are getting pissed. I've tried leaving the TV
on for her and blocking her in one room, but this does not work.

I've also tried bringing her with me to work, but recently her
barking has gotten out of control. Anytime she sees someone she
doesnt know she barks non stop even once I scold her. She wasnt like
this when she was younger. So I cant bring her to work with me
anymore.

One other important thing you should know is that she grew up with
my cat Tigi, but I recently had to give him away because he was
getting to rough with her when I wasnt home. Some people have
suggested I get her another chi companion, but I dont know if this
is necessary.

Please offer me some suggestions! I dont want to get evicted!

Karla
