LOL.....If it's not in a jar, can, or box, I don't cook.....LOL....not
that I can't, I can......but with it being just me and the furbabies,
why? That's why it's so funny that I have to actually cook for the
furbabies....LOL. But I made a big old batch today.....so no cooking for
a couple days....LOL. This must be pay back for years of jar, can, or
box cooking....LOL.

My vet said the gravy isn't good for little dogs like chi's
because of the fat doing a number on their pancras, so I asked her
if I could make a gravy from the broth she suggested and she said
sure, just thicken it with flour.....so I did. I checked the lable
on the jar of gravy I would have used and it has onion powder, so
I'm glad she said something about not useing it. But I agree,
human food has got to be safer right now, but I'm going to try to
keep the fat out of it. Who knows, maybe my old girl Lacy, will
trim off a few pounds. She could use it. She weighed 18 pounds at
the vets today and should weigh less than 15. I haven't figured it
out yet, but I'll bet mixing this rice, broth gravy, meat, and
eggs will be cheaper than canned dog and cat food.
What really bugs me is a guy on Fox news said today that the
company knew about this contaminated food for a while now but did
nothing till animals started dieing. It makes me think it would be
safer to keep my babies on home made food.

The recall so far has been applied to WET food only. However,
like I said last night...my brother feeds a dry variety of a
brand made by that company and has lost 10 pups from two
different mothers in the last two weeks...vet feels they all
passed from renal failure....so, to answer that questions....it
is only the WET that has been recalled......but I am not taking
chances on the dry right now either.
I do not feel I have the knowledge to routinely feed a raw diet
and will stick to dog food....but for now, under the
circumstances and until this whole mess is settled, I will feed
my dogs human foods. It may not be the right stuff or the right
combination and may not be real good for them, but I feel for now
it is safer than chancing the dog food....and one week of human
junk food is not gonna kill 'em...one can/bag of contaminated dog
food might.
So this is what I am doing!! lol. Tonight it is gravy and mashed
potatoes!! lmbo!!! Who knows what they will have tomorrow......

I have been reading up on the recall... I never realized how
many
brands are on the list. I called the vet to make an
appointment for my
new girl and asked what food they recommend. All the ones they
suggested are on the recall list. One place I read that it's
canned
type food only but other places I read that it's dry food as
well. I
am terrified on what to feed her. I am sure all of you are as
well...
what has everyone done??? Is there a way to make homemade dog
food
from people food?? I just dont know what to do!!
Thanks again,
Tracy
