hello!! my sister in law had 4 chis, they all hated anyone other than
immediate family, & would bark at anyone they were not familiar with
til they sat down...they also would bark at anyone with a hat on,
whether they sat down or not....one in particular had to be watched
really close as he would bit.....they never did socialize
them.....mine, as soon as i got them i would start having them say
"hi" (go greet them, sniff, be friendly...lol....)to anyone who came
over, i would ask the person if they liked dogs & if they would like
to hold them....i would then pick them up & hand them over to be loved
on.....although i always stayed near to give support to either the
person or the puppy......mine will still bark some, & my little male,
"checkers" will growl even though he wags his tail so much it looks
like it might come flying off...lol....i think he is just trying to
vocalize hello that way as i tell him no bark....lol....once the
people pet them they shut up....& then want to play....i have never
taken mine to classes, or to doggie parks or anything like that, but
if you have a doggie park near, that might be a good idea, as the
people would all be dog people & might lend a hand in socializing.....
LORD bless!!!
