It could be a reaction to the shot but it sounds more like a tummy ache. If
you heard her tummy growling and gurgling, it sounds like she has a digestive
problem. It may also be the heartguard that didn't agree with her. I,
personally, give Interceptor to my dogs for heartworm preventative. Heartguard
has an ingredient called Ivermectin (sp?) that tends to cause reaction in some
dogs, sometimes severe. If she doesn't get better soon, I would take her back
to the vet, just in case.

My chi is almost 2 years old and yesterday I brought her in for her
rabies shot and then in the evening I gave her a Heartguard Plus
chewable for the first time ever. She had been tested for heartworm
already, but this was her first dose. Last night at around 2 am, I
came out to the living room and she seemed cold, so I brought her into
bed with us. She didn't want to get up this morning at all, not even
to go outside. So she eventually gave in and went for her walk. When
she came back she jumped back on the bed and has been laying there
ever since. She won't eat even though I hear her stomach growling.
Are there side effects to the rabies or heartworm chewable that I was
unaware of? She hasn't had any diarrhea, she went to the bathroom as
normal. But it is unlike her to not eat and just lay in a room by
herself. Please, any advice is much needed and greatly appreciated!!
