Ah, okay.  My mom's Bull Terrier (also named Zoey) had the same problem.
Dogs are amazing animals, the way they heal and how quick they are to get up
again.  Having the surgery now will probably be better than later.  We had a
bad experience with dog surgeons, so definatly ask around or even interview
a few, don't just take them for what they say.
