I agree. My English Setter would not hurt a fly, however, when the dogs are excited a chi can easily get underfoot and get hurt. It has happened, and I do not doubt that it contributed to the $4600 back surgery that my chi eventually had to get....-- em:)

Even though my Aussies would never intentionally hurt the Chi, they might accidentally jump on her, run her over or something. So, in this lady's case, a smaller dog may be a better choice since she is looking for a companion for her Chi. Having a larger dog, she may have to seperate them when she can't be with them.
