I would take him in a second if I weren't at my city's limit which is 4
dogs. I think thats a little unfair as well because all mine are small and
are house dogs that don't get out or aren't allowed to bark uncontrollably
so they cant possibly bother the neighbors. LOL

I couldn't agree with you more. It has gotten to the point that it is a
lot cheaper to go buy a full blooded registered dog of any breed than to try
to "rescue" a mixed breed! I do understand adoption fees for several
reasons, not the least of which is to pay for the actual running of the
shelter, but if most of these shelters truly are "non-profit" then I'm the
queen of England!! Which is why myself and several others have started the
yahoo group rescueachi to try to place chis in homes without these
extraordinary cost. However, now that I am setting here with an adorable
chi/jrt mix, seems no one wants him!!! So looks like I am gonna end up
having to turn him over to one of those rescue groups that will charge
someone an arm and a leg to love him!

Boy some of the rescues and shelters are so expensive Here in Colorado
the shelters I know of range from around $50 to $400 to $500 in boulder and
a couple of other places. I know they need money to run the shelter but you
would think it would be better to adopt out at a smaller price and get the
dog a home that charge so much and have to destroy some. We have a chi
rescue here that seems kind of expensive (to me) as well. Plus they insist
on a home visit and I just dont like strangers at my house (my little
phobia) LOLOL
