Hi Lulu, Your chi shouldn't make the house smell like dog if you are bathing it every few weeks ... or even once a month or so - even dirty chis don't smell much. Mine do sleep in their doggie bed, instead of in bed with us ... our bedroom is too far away from the doggie door, and our bedroom is by the pool - we have the side of the backyard fenced off with a big fence and then mesh so the dogs can't get on that side of the backyard either. So, they sleep in the living room in their nice bed snuggled up together. They used to have a basket with a king size down pillow, but my hubby hated the basket and talked me into getting rid of the basket, so now they just have a really nice doggy bed ... personally I liked the basket and down pillow for them better. I'll have to sneak one in again. Anyway, he can't sleep outside, his body can't handle the outside temps, or outside predators that might get him. Shell

Ok so I have a 5 month old reindeer chihuahua and my dad is insisting that he sleep outside (he doesn't want the house to smell like dog) But I am really scared that if this happens my puppy can get sick. I live in el paso tx so the weather is fairly warm... anyone have any suggestions?
