Hi,

I have a 9 week old Chi named Lily.

I am trying to potty train her to use pee pads. She does really good when
her x-pen and in her crate. She always uses them. When she is running
around, she will use the pad if its close to her.

I never leave her unwatched so she rarely has an accident. My problem is,
though, when I see her sniffing/looking like she's going to pee, I pick her
up and place her on her pee pad. Lately, when I do this she always look SO
sad. I feel like she feels like its a punishment. She either then tries to
run away and play some more or she sits on the pad looking like shes in
trouble.

Should I let her run away and play, while keeping an eye out for the peeing
signals, or try to make her stay on the pad until she pees? When I do catch
her squatting and starting to pee, do I tell her scould her or just pick her
up and put her on her pad?

Thanks, I am looking for any helpful tips. I know its pretty early to
expect any kind of consistency, and I'm not really. I just wanna make sure
what I'm doing isn't hurting the chances of her being potty trained.
