There are lots of different opinions on how best to feed a dog. LOL
But here is what I do. I keep kibble and water down all the time. I
wash Sugars water bowl every morning and dump the water and get him
fresh water about 3 times a day.
I also feed him a lot of real foods. He gets a half an egg and/or
about a Tbs of plain yogurt for breakfast. For dinner he gets about
1/4 to 1/3cup of meat and usually some veggies. For snacks I give him
bits of cheese, apples, raw baby carrots, asparagus, etc.

My chi is still a pup (3.5 months), but he goes about every 3-4 hrs.
> How often with normal temp should they be drinking water?
Sugar usually gets a good drink about 3 times a day and just a few sips
here and there. Just keep the water clean and accessible and she'll
drink what she needs.

Sugar is like this too. He loves to just hang out in my lap and that
is where he spends most of his time. He also sleeps with me at night
with his head on my shoulder.
> Do they ever want to play?
Yep. Some dogs are have a high energy level than others just like
people. But they all play. Most likely she is still getting used to
things. Being with you feels safe. As she adjusts, I would think she
will get more playful and explore more. It's probably pretty
overwhelming to her right now. I'd just keep doing what you're doing.
Let her stay on your lap and bond with you. Chis form very strong
bonds with thier people so I'm sure she is out of sorts with a
household change.

your lap. She may be used to be held a lot. Sugar will get down,
potty, eat, stretch a bunch, go play for an hr and then come find me
to sit in my lap for a couple of hrs. LOL He will paw at my foot for
me to pick him up.
Also, keep in mind that for a chi, when you walk she is running.
Children are highly stimulating which will tire her out more. Plus all
the new sights, people, and sounds are mentally very stimulating.
Think of how tired you are after a day out. You may not have been
physically very active but all the mental stimulation can drain you
just as much.
I wouldn't worry as long as she is healthy and happy. Just learn what
is normal for her. And if you are unsure, call the breeder that had
her. She should be able to tell you if this is the norm for her or not.
My little guy is very mellow and I like him that way. He's my little
buddy. :)
