Maybe its a phase, but I'd do some major treat training for "come" and in the 
car I use the harness with leash attached to the head piece (he has a bed on 
the front seat with a pillow under secured by the seatbelt. Once I had to stop 
short and he went flying towards the windshield. Car safety is very underrated. 
That will never happen to me again and this method may keep the little bugger 
in his place. I also say menacingly "your not coming with me again" and once 
when he was doing that type of behavior I took him right home. This seemed to 
cure it!
