Such different personalities too. I have a little lad who's very Chow like -
quite aloof, likes a cuddle but only as long as it suits him, only really gets
into mischief when encouraged to do so by his litter mate, shows well and is
pretty much unfazed by most things.
But my little girl is a unholy terror - if it can be chewed she'll chew it. If
it can be ripped she'll rip it, if she see an area that's blocked off to her
she won't rest until she gets in. She'd eat all the food if I let her and
always prefers to help herself to the big dogs' food even though they're great
big chunks and in a raised bowl 12" from the floor. She throws herself at me in
welcome even if I've only been to the door to collect the mail but is quite
nervous of strangers and doesn't like the hustle and bustle of shows. She's a
cobby type, he's a leaner type

I have stocky ones. They must be the cobbly ones. I prefer the dainty
looking ones. I like the longer nose too. I do not like them to look like
some kind of furry insect! LOL!But really the great thing about chis is their
variety. They come in so many shapes, sizes, colors, coats.. I am always
amazed on how different they all are. - em J

Actually that "lean" look is "out" in the chi world. Personally I prefer the
leaner ones, but the ones that are winning the shows and setting the standards
now are usually more on the cobbly side....the short, fat looking ones, lol. I
have some of each and still prefer those "lanky" looking ones, lol. Then again
I also prefer the ones with some nose and not a flat face like the new
standards are evolving to.

Hi Tara! I wouldn't say it's normal for a chi to be real 'skinny' but
they should be a lean muscular dog. You could also add in a bit of
yogurt and cheese or something other healthy high calorie foods for
him. If he is having a growth spurt he may be temporarily thinner
    (sort of like lanky teenagers).

Generally, if he's healthy, happy, and active I wouldn't worry. Just
like people, dogs are individuals who will have a tendency to be
thinner or heavier bc of their own metabolism. Also, with a longcoat
friend, she may be making him look smaller in comparison too.

    They sound adorable, btw. :)
